How to fix Opening without host in your authoring tool

Concrete, tool-specific steps. The check itself is schema-agnostic and works for IFC2x3, IFC4, IFC4x1 and IFC4x3.

Authoring toolHow to fix
Revit Orphan openings come from deleted/edited hosts or loosely exported shaft openings. Delete stray openings and recreate the void on its host (wall/floor/roof) so the relationship exports, and re-host doors/windows if the cut was lost.
ArchiCAD Openings must belong to a wall or slab. Remove free-standing opening objects and use the Opening tool (or door/window) anchored to the host so ArchiCAD exports IfcRelVoidsElement.
Tekla Recreate the cut/opening as a feature of its host part instead of a loose object, so the void references a host on export.
Allplan Place openings with the wall/slab opening tools so they belong to a host; delete detached opening solids.

Find and fix it in the browser

The whole flow runs client-side — your IFC file never leaves your machine.

Open your IFC file
Open IFC Viewer Online and drag & drop your IFC file. It is parsed locally in your browser via WebAssembly — nothing is uploaded.
02
Run the Health Score validation
Run validation. The "Opening without host" check (RULE_OPENING_WITHOUT_HOST) flags every affected element and pinpoints it in the model tree.
